A few weekends ago Katie saw a little girl wearing the cutest red sandals. The sandals had a squeaker inside the heel so the girl was walking noisily and happily along. Of course Katie was interested in these attention grabbing shoes. She even tried to make her shoes squeak by stomping her feet really hard. I thought this meant Katie would love to have her very own pair of squeaky sandals. Wanting to meet every reasonable desire Katie has, I scoured the internet for the best deal on these precious shoes. I placed my order and eagerly awaited the mail each day. When they arrived I immediately showed them to Katie. She looked at them and said "No." I demonstrated the squeaking feature. She said "No, no." I, not one to be discouraged, held her down and placed them on her feet. She began to scream "NOOOOO!" After 15 seconds of that, I removed the shoes. I tried them again when she was well rested. I tried giving her a choice between her old, boring sandals or new, pink, squeaky ones. I tried them when we were outside, but like green eggs and ham they are disagreeable everywhere. She has mellowed some. If you hold the shoes out to her now, she only says "No, no" and lays on the floor in the fetal position until you take the shoes away.
I sold the shoes on Ebay today. Hopefully their new owner receives them better.
Hmmmm....maybe she wanted RED sandals!
