Santa Knows

Katie was dead set against visiting Santa until Meme mentioned he had a sack of toys.  Even though I told her Santa does not give the toys out until Christmas Eve, she still decided she'd like to see him.  Tonight we did.  While waiting for our number to be called in Santa's virtual queue, no waiting in a physical line for this family, we discussed what Katie would tell S.C. she wanted.

Here's the list:

1.  dollies with clothes
2.  ladies and stuff
3.  ballerina slippers and clothes to wear to ballet school

Everything went fine until we stood before Santa.  The she yelled, "I want to go home!  I want to go bye-bye!"  Old St. Nick saved the day when he asked K-T if she wanted a doll for Christmas.  How did he know!?!?!?!?!?  She answered, "and clothes for them to wear."  Then she sat in his lap and we got these two pictures.  Katie likes the hugging one the best.

pregerrific (16 weeks)

Here's the belly at 16 weeks along.
I'm allowed to run now, so the belly is all late night buttered popcorn and Baby Bundt.

Big Sis sends a lil' magic to B. B.
It seems K thinks the baby is located in my chest.

Baby Bundt is now the size of a russet potato.
Grow, baby, grow.

Abbey loves the potato baby a lot.
Abbey doesn't understand using food for anything other than devouring.
Now Katie says, "Abbey ate Baby Bundt."

Seasonal and weather appropriate props below.

Christmas Bath

Abbey gets a bath as often as she smells like Noah's Ark.  She is careful to deodorize weekly with her Bath Junkie perfume spray, so I won't tell you how long it takes for her to reach the ark stench.  This is Kate's first time to help Daddy with the task.  I am sure the lil' helper made Abbey feel completely at ease ;).

Abbey is getting her Christmas gift tonight.  A new bed.  Yea!  It feels like a new start.

Christmas Bakers

Grandma and Cookie cut, baked, and decorated today.  All the imperfect M&Ms, stray crumbs of cookie dough, and unstuck sugar sprinkles were devoured by the aptly nicknamed Cookie.

Christmas Villagers

*UPDATE - Jon just confessed he was playing Christmas village with K-T this morning!

My Grandmother had a miniature Christmas village that she displayed in her bay window each year.  I don't think I was allowed to touch it.  When no one was looking, I would peek inside the houses and move the ice skaters around on the mirror pane skate pond.  I was always careful to return the pieces to their original locations.  Somebody at my house is not being so careful!

These trees were artfully spaced between the homes and shops.  Now they have been assembled for a tree lot.

Look at this guy dragging his dog into the antique shop.  The antique shop that now resides in the center of the skate pond.

Oh my!  Carolers or angry mob?

Here's an arial view so you can get a better feel for the crowd's vibe.

I was at the dentist this morning while Jon "watched" Katie.

The Ice Skating Show

We took Katie to see Disney Princesses on Ice.  She called it the ice skating show.  Look at our eyes all agog below.  Katie is taking in the elaborate set design.  I am taking in the price of the snow cones - $15.  I am sure they were magical snow cones that make all your wishes come true, but they looked like the crunchy kind that came from a Snoopy Sno-Cone machine.

Daddy let Katie select a magic wand.  She chose Ariel.  It lights up and plays Under the Sea.  Later at home she discovered you can make a lot of noise if you press the wand button and the button on her Christmas singing dog simultaneously.  It's better than magic.

Separate from the ice skating show, Jon bought me this hat.  I expressed a desire to own a winter hat with a large pom pom on the top.  I think he found the perfect one.

Katie is magic wanding the tree.

Oh and take a look at the coat she is wearing.  When I put it on her, she said, "Now I'm like a monkey."  Must be the color and feel of the velour.

After the show, Dad thought, and Katie agreed, the evening should be topped off with dessert.  She chose a white cupcake with sprinkles.  Yum.

Thanksgiving

We started our Thanksgiving with parade watching and breakfast at Grandma and Grandpa's house  The parade inspired K-T to do a show of her own.  Here's Aunt B clapping out a rhythm for the dancers.

Dancer #1 is Grandma!

Dancer #2 and Tambourinist is K-T.

The music never stops!  At my Aunt D's house the wee ones rocked out on the electric piano.  No, they aren't smiling for the photo, but they are both looking at the camera.  That's priceless.

A wildly competitive bingo game took place after dinner.

Is it weird that on this most food-centric of holidays I have no photos of our yummy meals?

Picnic at the Park with Dad

Great start to my day off.  Bike ride with Katie and then mid-morning snack at the park.  Katie ate pretty much every snack that Carrie packed.  Close to 80 degrees today and then tomorrow it will be in the low 30s.  Got to love Texas weather!

Pregnastic (12 weeks)

Baby Bundt is the now the size of a kiwi.  Only 196 days to go!

And I am the size of a...

I did not forget about the props.  Here you go!

Here's a link to a picture of me 12 weeks pregnant with Katie.

Oh and at our last sonogram, the sono tech and the doctor separately guessed Baby Bundt's gender.  That makes three votes for female, if you count mine too.  We'll let you know if anything, uh, develops on the gender front at 20 weeks.

Good One!

You got me - twice! See, I forgot all about the little rubber mouse someone left by my mailbox. So this one prank got two loud gasps from me! K thinks it is going to jump at her. Touche!
I have no idea who the guilty party is, but I have a few guesses. Watch out folks. Me and Mousie are planning our revenge!!!!!!!!!

Quotes and Quips #4 and Call Ripley's

Daddy helped K with her morning routine, so I could stay in bed for a few more minutes today. Here is a snippet from their conversation.

Daddy: I've got to go to work soon.

Katie: At the zoo?

Heeheehee. I guess Dad's descriptions of work are making an interesting impression on K-T.

Look what she chose to wear today! I can't believe it's not a dress!

Quotes and Quips #3

Katie: I wanna blow you up in the sky with a magic wand.

Me: I'm not sure that sounds nice.

Katie: I'm not being nice.

Turkey T

Meme and Papa came over today and dressed this lil' turkey in her turkey t-shirt.

I think she is doing the claw again. Go Rangers! I never knew she was such a fan. It's Daddy's influence.

Costume #3 - Trick or Treating

Katie's friend Kennedy invited her to go trick or treating in her neighborhood. Before venturing out they watched and learned from Toodee, of Yo Gabba Gabba! fame, that eating too much candy will make you sick. Katie tells us, "I want to get sick."

Two Cool Cats!

This was Katie's first time to go trick or treating. She has been asking us about how it works for a few weeks now. She LOVED it! I am starting to suspect that my shy girl is not really a shy girl after all. Halloween totally brought her out of her shell. I adore this lady for handing out Goldfish crackers instead of candy.

See! No shyness! No trepidation! She's going for it! She's a trick or treat master!

Birthday Bash

Birthday Celebration for Jon, Angela, David, and Granddad!
Katie was having a great time! Granddad was making her laugh

Great Family Portrait - They were all excited for the new coffee maker as it makes hot chocolate as well.

First time ever - we had a birthday bash while watching the Rangers in the World Series. Not football season yet in Texas (especially since our teams stink)

Pumpkin Woopie Pies!

The night ended with a game of bingo after all the food, presents, and Rangers win!

I (Jon) was going thru some recent picture Carrie took and thought these were pretty funny.

Costume #2 - Wear your Costume to Music Class and a Halloween Party

Katie has been studying the costume catalog for months. Everyday she selects a new character she'd like to be for Halloween. Due to this indecision on her part, I have been trying to think of all the costume possibilities we can make from her dress up box. (Thank you Aunt D, Uncle H, and Aunt A for all the dress up goodies we have!) Here is selection #2 - the bride.

Katie's behavior was not awesome during music class. Her teacher mused, "She is really like a bride on her special day. She wants things to go her way."

The bride poses with her friend Buzz Lightyear after class. You can see their little faces in costume last year here.

Buzz invited the bride to his Halloween party the following day. Katie had so much fun. She actually got over her shyness and pushed through a group of kids to get to be first to pull the pinata string. I've never seen her do anything like it. A less shy Katie, may prove to be more difficult to steer toward politeness!

Cheerio

Katie enjoys her first ever bowl of cereal.

It's Honey Nut Cheerios. Yum!

We've been too scared to allow her a bowl full of milk before this. I am pretty sure it's a disaster, including tears and screams, waiting to happen. Although this first run went fine.

I gave her a bite from my bowl. Then she knew she was missing out munching on dry cereal only.
